What We Do for Your Horse

It has been proven that horses on a bespoke, targeted nutrition and balanced mineral diet enjoy healthy skin and coat, strong hooves, a healthy digestive system, a strong immune system, a healthy functioning metabolic system, strong tendons, ligaments, joints and muscles, healthy young-stock, better performance and attitude to work.

The Healthy Horse Company® works with you and your horse to provide a complete service, from analysing your horse’s forage, including hay, haylage, grass pasture and soil, to building you a bespoke feeding plan and providing bespoke balancers for horses and soil dressings.

We provide vitamins, minerals, forage balancers and more to support every equine need, from head to toe and everything in between, to ensure your horse has high-specification nutrition based on NRC guidelines and the latest research.

1. Forage Analysis

Get your hay or haylage analysed for nutritional and mineral content. You can also test for hygiene, ie. yeasts and molds content.

2. Bespoke Feed Plan

Once we have tested the forage, we work with you to build a bespoke feed plan to your horse's dietary requirements using NRC guidelines.

3. Pasture Soil Analysis

We can take a long-term strategy to address the quality of the soil from your grazing pasture, supplying a tailor-made trace element dressing.

Step 1: Forage Analysis

Our Nutritional Analysis provides levels of Dry Matter, Digestible Energy, Crude Protein, Acid Detergent Fibre, Neutral Detergent Fibre, Water Soluble Carbohydrates, ESC (Simple Sugars), Starch, and Non Fibre Carbohydrates. Both Starch and Ethanol Soluble Carbohydrates (sugar) levels are especially essential for those owners managing horses with Laminitis, EMS, Cushings, IR.

Our Mineral Analysis provides levels of Phosphorus, Magnesium, Calcium, Sodium, Potassium, Chloride, Manganese, Copper, Zinc, Selenium, Cobalt, Iodine, Iron, Aluminium, Molybdenum, Sulphur, and Lead.

You can then either buy a balancer for horses or have a bespoke feed plan created specifically for your horse’s needs. If you are planning on moving to step 2 and purchasing a Bespoke Feed Plan, you will need to purchase a Full Nutritional Analysis AND a Full Mineral Analysis of your hay/haylage (as well as a Grass analysis if your horse spends much time grazing each day). Alternatively, you can purchase a Complete Analysis and Feed Plan.

Step 2: Bespoke Feed Plan

We are pleased to offer all owners who have the comprehensive results of their Forage Analysis (or have results from other sources) a Bespoke Feed Plan Service.

We ask you to complete a comprehensive Equine Information Form to provide us with details of your horse’s present feeding, management, health issues, workload, weight, age, etc., as well as any other concerns or issues you may have. Using this information and the Forage Analysis Results we formulate an improved feed plan/diet for your horse, taking into account NRC guidelines and mineral balancing ratios to optimise the uptake of essential nutrients.

Alternatively please take advantage of our Bespoke Balancer Service – we can provide you with a pre-mixed balancer formulated specifically to your horse’s exact requirements (saving owners time and the worry of buying individual products and mixing the correct quantities. Please contact us for details. If you’ve already purchased both nutritional and mineral forage analyses, you can purchase a A Bespoke Feed Plan here, or if you would like to purchase all in one go, purchase your complete analysis and feed plan here

Step 3: Soil Analysis & Dressing

This is more of a long-term strategy to improve the quality of the soil supporting pasture grazed specifically by horses.

We test for Phosphorus, Potassium, Magnesium, Calcium, Sulphur, Manganese, Copper, Boron, Zinc, Molybdenum, Iron, Sodium, Cobalt, Iodine, Selenium, Organic Matter, Cation Exchange Capacity and pH.

We provide full details and support on how to obtain an accurate sample of your soil for the laboratory. Results take 2 – 3 weeks to process, and are forwarded by email.

We, and our highly experienced soil consultant, can provide follow-up advice to you and also supply a tailor-made trace element dressing, at a competitive rate, based on the results of your analysis.

If you have any questions regarding our services, please do not hesitate to contact us online or call us on 07593 047 181.
