The Healthy Horse Company® was created by Sally Tobin, a fully-insured, experienced equine nutritionist, to offer you a professional service with complete confidentiality, whether you are looking for scientific analysis of forage, to the soil in your pasture, or trying to find trusted supplements and vitamins your horse may need to improve their diet and health.
Sally offers years of experience and a breadth of qualifications and expertise, working with you to help maintain your horse’s health and wellbeing.
Qualifications and Experience
Sally holds a BTEC Professional Diploma in Equine Nutrition. During her extensive studies she attended lectures by leading equine professors and scientists. Sally is a member of The Nutrition Society. She has also studied equine nutrition with Dr Eleanor Kellon, VMD, of Pennsylvania, USA. Sally is educated to Degree Level (Business), has a Level 5 qualification in Strategic Management and is a member of the Chartered Management Institute. Other equine qualifications include BHS Stable Manager (Int), NVQ Level 3 in Horse Care and Management, and an Advanced Technical Certificate in Horse Care awarded by The British Horse Racing Education and Standards Trust.
Sally is also owner/manager of the prestigious Fircrest Horse Liveries in Kent, a BHS Approved Livery Yard since 2005, offering grass track systems, natural feeding systems and is a pro-barefoot establishment. Sally has previously spent 10 years showing horses both in-hand, under saddle and driven at county show level on the UK circuit.
Sally has extensively studied Equine Nutrition, Equine Anatomy, Physiology and Nutritional Bio-Chemistry, Advances in Equine Nutrition, Equine Sports Nutrition and Sward Management. Sally has in-depth knowledge of the nutritional requirements and experience in managing all types of horses including Working and Performance Horses, Veterans, Broodmares, Young-Stock, and those suffering from Arthritis, Lameness, Cushings and Insulin Resistance. Sally’s scientific qualifications and years of practical experience provide her with a unique perspective on the equine diet from an in-depth study of the latest equine nutrition research papers and NRC guidelines.
Sally has written many articles on equine nutrition for publications including Intelligent Horsemanship (Monty Roberts/Kelly Marks), Horse and Hound Magazine and Equi-ads.

Sally is passionate about balancing equine diets to fully optimise horse health. Using the latest NRC guidelines and scientific forage analysis, Sally can draw on her qualifications, experience and expertise to create a nutritionally balanced diet for your horse.
At The Healthy Horse Company®, Sally is eager to offer owners a service that takes a “holistic” approach to their horse’s management and diet – providing horse owners, breeders and trainers with accurate information, tools and supplements to promote optimum health in their horse(s). She also works closely and takes referrals from other equine professionals across the UK – veterinary surgeons, saddlers, saddle-fitters, farriers, and physiotherapists to truly enhance that holistic approach.
